Q&A with our new Resident Life Coordinator
Today's post comes from Victoria Infinger, our communications intern. Surprise! Palmetto Place has hired a new Resident Life Coordinator. His name is Charlie and we've prepared a short Q&A for everyone to get to know him.
Victoria: First off, what is your full name and position title?
Charlie: Charlie Howell III, and I am the new Resident Life Coordinator.
Victoria: Great! What does it mean to be the Resident Life Coordinator? What do your responsibilities include?
Charlie: I have many responsibilities. I will be working closely with the Lead Houseparent to plan weekday and weekend schedules for the children. I will keep up-to-date on resident cases, and will be in charge of resident progress, needs and success reports. I have many more responsibilities, but it all boils down to helping the children.
Victoria: What made you want to work at Palmetto Place?
Charlie: I just really enjoy working with the youth.
Victoria: Why do you enjoy working with children?
Charlie: I want to help them be successful in life.
Victoria: What is your favorite success story you can remember since you've worked with shelter children?
Charlie: There are many great things you see when you work with children. The best thing I've ever witnessed was a child receiving a football scholarship to Newberry College.
Victoria: What were you like as a child?
Charlie: I really enjoyed sports.
Victoria: Did you ever think you would have ended up working to help children?
Charlie: Yes, from a young age I knew I wanted to work with children. My first interests have always been teaching and coaching.
Victoria: What is the best piece of advice you have ever received?
Charlie: There’s a time and a place for everything.
