Giving Tuesday 2017

Thank you to all those who donated to our home on Giving Tuesday! Together we were able to raise $2,035 for the kids in our care. This year, you gave the gift of hope and we can't thank you enough for that.

For 40 years Palmetto Place has been a home for children and teens who have been abused, neglected or abandoned. We’ve tucked kids in for bed, been there when they’ve lost a tooth, and became the shoulder they lean on. We’ve watched teens get their driver’s licenses, their first jobs, and move into college dorms.

We’ve become family to more than 7,000 of South Carolina’s children and teens and have provided them with hope; hope for a better life, bigger opportunities and a brighter future.

This year you can provide hope to a child or teen in need with a donation to Palmetto Place on Giving Tuesday. Giving Tuesday is a global day of online giving following Thanksgiving, Black Friday, and Cyber Monday.

On Tuesday, November 28th, we need your help to raise $15,000 in 24-hours with our #GiveHope campaign. Anyone can give, but when you share an UNselfie you’re using the power of social media to fuel a giving spree.

To take your UNselfie you’ll need a giving card. Click here to have one mailed to you for free! On the 28th make your donation here, write the reason you gave on the front of your card, hold it in front of you and take a photo! Easy as that. Share your UNselfie with Palmetto Place on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter using #GiveHope.

Your donation will go to work right away providing hope for the kids in our care. It can provide a warm bed and healthy meal to the teen that’s been living on the streets, help a child overcome the trauma of losing a loved one, and provide a better opportunity for a brighter future.

No donation is too small to make a difference, this year give the gift of hope.

Get Creative!

There are so many ways you can get creative with your UNSelfie and social media! The more creative you are the more likely you'll inspire someone else to give too. Some of our favorites are:

1. Physical Challenge: Maybe you're the type who loves to work out - then this is perfect for you! Make your donation and post your UNSelfie with a challenge to your friends. (Think Ice Bucket Challenge.) Example: "Here's my UNSelfie now show me yours! For every UNSelfie I'm tagged in I'll do 5 push ups."

2. Social Challenge: If you can't do push ups (Like me!) or a physical challenge isn't your thing that's okay too. Try a social challenge. Post your UNSelfie on social media BEFORE making your donation and attach a challenge. Some examples include: "For every person who likes my UNSelfie I'll donate $1." "For every like or comment my UNSelfie gets I'll donate $.50, for every share I'll donate $1, and for tagging me in your UNSelfie I'll donate $5."

3. Family and Friends: Make a donation, take your UNSelfie, share and TAG the folks you challenge to also make a donation. Our project coordinator Grace uses this tactic every year and 9 out of 10 people  tagged make a donation too!

4. Create a Pool: Remember, the giving cards are free so you can request as many as you'll need. Get one for every person in your office, Sunday school class, or workout group. Each person who takes an UNSelfie donates a dollar or more to the pool and at the end of the day you make a collective donation.

Do you have other creative ideas we haven't thought of? We'd love to hear them! Share in the comments now. Remember, no donation is too small to make a difference.
