Due to the nature of services Palmetto Place provides, it is difficult for us to offer individual volunteer opportunities that involve working directly with the children or at the shelter. Our utmost concern is protecting the confidentiality of our children and providing them a stable, secure environment while they are with us at the shelter.

However, there are other ways individuals can support our efforts, and we particularly welcome the involvement of groups and other organizations. To volunteer for any of the activities below or learn more, please contact us.

Fundraising Support: As a nonprofit, we depend on fundraising activities. If your organization is looking for a worthwhile charity to support, Palmetto Place would love to hear from you! We also are looking for motivated and creative individuals to serve on our volunteer fundraising group (downloadable PDF/printable form of volunteer application). This group is responsible for researching new ways of raising money for the shelter, and executing those ideas. You also can support Palmetto Place by participating in our fundraising events. Of course, you can always donate money to help us with our everyday expenses.

Children’s Activities Sponsor: Like all kids, the children who stay at Palmetto Place enjoy special outings to the movies, zoo, pizza parlors and more. And during the holidays, they especially enjoy holiday-theme parties — like Easter egg hunts, Fourth of July picnics, Halloween costume parties and more!

Shelter Maintenance: From time to time, our shelter needs “sprucing up” (painting, lawn maintenance, etc). This is an excellent opportunity for groups to get involved by taking a Saturday or two to handle these “big jobs” for us.

Wish List: Palmetto Place maintains a wish list of items needed throughout the year. If you or your organization can provide any of the items on the list, we’ll make arrangements to pick up your donation.
