The 2008 Dessert & More Competition will be held May 3, 2008 at Embassy Suites in Columbia.  The event will begin at 6:00 p.m with heavy hors d'ouvres and a silent auction, where we will be auctioning off handpainted rocking chairs and several children's table & chairs sets.  Once again, we have some phenomenal artists who have volunteered their time and talents to create chairs for the event!

At 8:00, winners of the dessert competition will be announced and guests will be able to sample the decadent desserts prepared!

Tickets are $65 per person and $110 per couple, and will be available at the door.  You may contact Marisa at (803)786-6819 for more information.

Special thanks to Richland School District 1 teachers & students and the Little Group from Charlotte for decorating a large amount of our chairs!

Palmetto Place celebrated 30th Anniversary of providing care to children of the Midlands at a Gala Event June 2, 2007.  Thanks to everyone who came out and celebrated with us!

The gala theme was "Star Light, Star Bright," because each child that comes to Palmetto Place is a special light...a star that shines brightly even in the face of abuse and neglect. Since 1977, over 6,000 stars have lit the sky at Palmetto Place.

The black tie optional event included a unique rocking chair silent auction. Fifty rocking chairs (child and adult sizes) were painted by local artists, art students and individuals. Included among these artists were local favorites Jim Harrison and Erica Hoyt.

Professional chefs representing the American Culinary Federation, Midlands Chapter, prepared the delicious dinner. And the piece de resistance - our annual dessert competition in which chefs competed for special honors, and guests were able to sample their culinary creations.
